What is an extensive property?
Answer: Extensive property is the one whose value depends on size or extent of the system.
Examples: Total Momentum, Total Mass, Total Volume
The extensive property if divided into parts, each part will have a fraction of the value compared to the original whereas for the intensive property, each part will have the same value.
For example, suppose I have a block of Iron at 30°C and I divide it into 2 parts. The mass of each block will be half of the original but the temperature of both the parts will be exactly 30°C.
Hence, mass is an extensive property and temperature is an intensive property.
