Maximum combustion temp in gas turbines is of the order of 1100 to 1200 C whereas max temp in IC engines is 2200 C? why?

I.C engines are exposed to the highest temp only for a short period of time in the power stroke and it gets time to cool in the remaining strokes of the cycle. On the other hand, gas turbine plant is a steady flow device and is always exposed to the highest temp. Very small volume of fuel+air is carried in an IC engine to get max power and it is required to burn the fuel at the highest temp. Whereas in gas turbines the fuel is supplied continuously, hence due to metallurgical limits of the turbine and casing materials the gas turbines can not be exposed to the high temperature for a longer period.
