In the Steady flow energy equation, generally, the enthalpy, heat transfer and work transfer terms are in the units of kJ/kg.
When kinetic energy term (V^2)/2 is calculated it comes in the unit of J/kg. Therefore, to have same units throughout in the steady flow energy equation it kinetic energy and potential energy terms are divided by 1000.
