What is swept volume? Is it the same as 'CC' of the engine?

Answer: The swept volume is the volume that is being swept between TDC(top dead center) and BDC(bottom dead center).

What is the TDC(top dead center)?

Position of the piston when it creates the smallest possible volume between piston and cylinder (above piston)

What is the BDC (bottom dead center)?

Position of the piston when it creates the largest possible volume between piston and cylinder (above piston)

TDC and BDC

Swept volume = Vs = Piston area * Stroke length

ree

where,

d = bore diameter

l = stroke length

The unit of the stroke volume is expressed in terms of CC (Cubic Centimeters)

What is stroke length?

The distance between TDC and BDC is the stroke length

What is bore diameter?

The inner diameter of the cylinder is called the bore diameter.

Is swept volume the same as the 'CC' of the engine?

Yes, swept volume is expressed in cubic centimeters and it is the same as the 'CC' of the engine.
