What is the purpose of using a flash chamber in VCRS?
Answer: After the throttling process, there is vapor present in the refrigerant. This vapor if carried through an evaporator, it will not contribute to the refrigeration effect and will reduce the COP of the cycle.
Hence using flash chamber at some intermediate pressure, the vapor at intermediate pressure can be bled off and fed back to the compressor and the remaining liquid refrigerant is sent through the evaporator.
