What is Nusselt number?

Ans: The Nusselt number represents the enhancement of heat transfer through a fluid layer as a result of convection relative to conduction.

The heat transfer is enhanced when the fluid layer moves over solid surface compared to the fluid layer being stationary on the solid surface.(conduction heat transfer only)

The ratio of the convective heat transfer to conductive heat transfer if the fluid was stationary is called Nusselt number.
