What is a system boundary (in a thermodynamic sense)?

Answer: System boundary is real or imaginary surface that separates system from its surroundings is called the boundary.


- The boundary of system is fixed (or movable)

- Boundary is contact surface shared by both system and the surroundings

- Mathematically boundary has zero thickness

- It can not contain any mass or occupy any volume in the space
